JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: ABA Instructors
Reports to: ABA Supervisor
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Employees in this position are required to provide ABA interventions to a child/youth with Autism. Support will consist of: ABA Supervision and ABA Analyst consultation time.
DUTIES:
- Implements 1:1 behavioral intervention programs to children in their homes across all of the children’s waking hours
- Collects data according to moment to moment data collection procedures
- P articipates in an on-going training program that provides instruction on the principles of ABA and associated tactics, discrete trial teaching techniques, management of maladaptive behaviors, child development and data collection techniques
- Instructors will receive supervision from professional consultants for each client they work with, this will include direct observation, and in vivo training and feedback
- Communicate with supervisory staff following written and verbal communication systems
- Communicate with family
- Works as part of a team with all other staff, supervisor and consultants
- Participates in meetings
- Housekeeping duties
- Participates in videotape sessions for evaluation
- Implement behaviour plans and other scripted curricula at 80% accuracy evaluations, after 6 months of being employed. This criterion will be during the duration of the employees employment
- Other duties as negotiated with supervisor
ACADEMIC AND SPECIALIZED ABILITIES:
- Completion of a post secondary diploma or degree in a relevant field
- 6 months or greater working with at least one child in a home or school based setting following an ABA protocol

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS :
- Warm, open, engaging and non-judgmental
- Ability to organize, initiate and manage multiple tasks, work well under pressure and set priorities
- CPI – Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Current Certification
- Valid Level I First Aid certificate
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Must complete a probationary period as specified in the Collective Agreement
- Have no relevant criminal history
- Workers must maintain confidentiality, undergo annual successful criminal record checks, and be sensitive to diversity among clients, co-workers and the community
- Employees in an ABA treatment role are subject to quarterly testing of their capacity to implement ABA behaviour and education plans with a minimum of 80% fidelity based on direct observation and recording of their practice. Practioners must pass in order to work with the client in residence. Failure to meet this standard will require re-testing within the same work period. Failure to meet the standard upon re-testing will lead to suspension without pay until the employee requests re-testing. Failure of two test sequences in the same year may lead to discharge. All practitioners will be provided with adequate training to meet these standards.
